15-Minute Miso Rice Krispie Treats

A super simple 15 minute Miso Rice Krispie Treat recipe. Rice Krispie cereal is coated in marshmallows and brown butter flavored with white miso. It's an effortless dessert that makes you look like you made a lot of effort.

  • Prep a 8x8 baking pan by greasing it with butter and covering it with parchment paper.
  • Add 5 cups of Rice Krispie cereal to a large bowl. Set aside.
  • Melt ¼ cup of unsalted butter.
  • Add 10 oz of marshmallows and stir until melted. This should be 6 cups of mini marshmallows.
  • Add 1 tbsp of white miso and a pinch of salt and stir until incorporated.
  • Pour the miso marshmallow mixture over the Rice Krispie cereal and stir to coat.
  • Spoon rice krispie treats into the prepared 8×8 baking dish and press down with a spatula so the rice krispie treats are distributed evenly
  • Let them cool for 5-10 minutes before serving.

Notes

Update 4/20/25 - Based on recent feedback that rice krispie treats are dry and crumbly, retested and updated recipe to include 1/4 cup of unsalted butter instead of 3 tbsp and reduced rice krispie cereal to 5 cups.
