A Sea of Dreams

A short but sweet post this week. I didn’t have time to cook this week as I was in Puerto Vallarta for a little r&r. I had the most amazing time! One of my favorite parts of PV was of course the food. Mexican food is one of my favorite cuisines, and I was super excited to have some authentic Mexican food while I was there.Drink

The first night my friends and I went to Cafe de Artiste. It is a more upscale place with the most gorgeous outdoor patio area. My friends and I ordered the early bird temptation menu which allows you to pick an appetizer, entree, and dessert for only 440 pesos or $22. This was a huge steal especially considering the amount of food we got. I got the tuna tartar, Argentine steak, and the meringue dessert.  The tuna tartar was my favorite dish of the night. The lemon really comes out in the dish, and I loved that they added sea urchin to the dish; I thought the sea urchin was a nice touch. The presentation of each dish also blew me away. Each plate looked like a work of art!TacosGoing to Mexico would never be complete without having lots and lots of tacos. I love tacos because they are so simple and full of flavor. We went to two taco places that really stood out to me. The first place was called Pancho’s Takos. Their signature taco is the Al Pastor which is basically a pork taco. I personally thought the al pastor was okay. The beef taco was what impressed me. It was mind blowing how much flavor they got into this small taco. The second place I went to was introduced to me by my surf instructor. After a full morning of being pounded by the waves, I was ready to chow down on muchos tacos. He brought us to this place across the airport called Tacon de Marlin. This is hands down my favorite taco place of all time. I at first got 3 fish tacos which were made with swordfish. I didn’t realize how small the tacos were, so after I finished them, I got 2 more. They were so good! I couldn’t believe it. Their forte is definitely seafood. In addition to swordfish, they also serve tacos or burritos with crab, shrimp, and multiple types of fish. I would definitely recommend it for anyone making a trip to PV, and it’s so convenient as it is across the street from the airport!Beach
