white wine sangria recipe

Taking a break from all the Asian recipes with this fresh white wine sangria recipe. If I had to choose only 1 drink to take to a desert island, I would choose sangria. I’ve made variations of this drink before here and here. This little drink from Spain screams summer to me. It is made of fresh fruit, sugar, and some type of wine. This version contains peaches and nectarines – the best fruits of summer – and white wine with a splash of rose.

Using peaches and nectarines

Peaches and nectarines are 2 fruits that remind me of summer. They are at peak ripeness midsummer and disappear by early fall. There are so many different types of peaches and nectarines. I chose yellow peaches and yellow nectarines, but you can use any variation you want for this recipe. The ones I chose are a little tart which helps balance out the inherent sweetness of rose and white wine.

Peach and nectarine ice cubes

My favorite part of this recipe is the peach and nectarine cubes I created. Most of the time, sangria does not come with ice, but I actually like it to keep my drink cold. I came up with this cute way of incorporating the fruit into the ice. Just add a few slices of fruit to the ice tray and fill it up with water. The fruit will freeze into the ice, so when it melts, the fruit will become a part of the drink.

Why I chose white wine and rose for this white wine sangria

For all sangrias, you can choose any type of wine to use. I chose white wine and rose because I love how the tartness and sweetness of both go together. Both are also lighter than red wine which creates for a lighter, more refreshing drink. Personally, I prefer lighter drinks during warm summer days. 🙂

Making this white wine sangria recipe

This white wine sangria recipe is so so so easy to make. First cut all the fruit into small cubes. Add them to a pitcher with the sugar. Mix together the fruit and sugar. The sugar works to break down the fruit. Then add in the white wine and rose. Stir with a large spoon and serve! Within 10 minutes, you’ll have a refreshing drink for your summer parties!
