The other day I was invited to a game night, and I asked everyone what ice cream they wanted. I received a whole host of flavors from strawberry to oreo to chocolate, so I tried to make something that included as many as possible. That’s how I ended up making this strawberry cookies and cream. This is one of those ice cream recipes that was unexpectedly good. Oreos and strawberry! Who would’ve thought!

How I developed this strawberry cookies and cream
In the past, I had done a variation of cookies and cream with my ube oreo ice cream, so I knew this ice cream flavor had a good chance of working. After seeing how much people liked it, I decided to go back and test it to make sure it had the best flavor profile. When I made it for the game night, I actually used the churn method, but decided to use the no-churn method for this recipe because it’s a lot more user friendly. I tested this recipe 2 times, testing different types of vanilla and strawberry jams to find the best flavor combination. See my insights below.

Some important details about key ingredients
- Strawberry jam – I tested this recipe with very high quality, locally produced strawberry jam and some generic jam I found at the grocery store. While both yielded good ice cream, I found that the higher quality jam makes the ice cream taste better. This might a “duh” statement to some, but since strawberry is one of the core ingredients of this recipe, this is something I want to emphasize. Use the best quality jam for the best results!
- Vanilla extract – I tested this recipe with vanilla extract and vanilla paste. While you can use either, I would recommend using vanilla paste. I found that the ice cream tasted better with vanilla paste. It also looks more whimsical having those little black specks in the ice cream.

No Churn Strawberry Cookies and Cream
Ingredients
- 2 cups heavy cream

- 2 tsp vanilla paste
- ¼ tsp salt
- 6 oreos
- ½ cup strawberry jam
Instructions
- Whip 2 cups of heavy cream until stiff peaks.
- Add 14 oz of condensed milk, 2 tsp of vanilla paste, and ¼ tsp of salt. Whisk until just combined.
- Pour half of the ice cream base into a loaf pan (8.5 x 4.5 x 2.75). Spoon ¼ cup of strawberry jam on top. I like to spoon them into 4 straight lines. Cut 3 Oreos into pieces and place them on top of the ice cream base.
